Essay Topics for Elementary Education

Essay Topics for Elementary EducationEssay topics for elementary education and pre-service teachers can be very different from those used in higher education settings. In fact, if you do not know the difference between the two, you will likely not be able to get any students to write a good essay. This is because in the lower level curriculum you are given the task of helping students learn through 'practice'deduction.'In kindergarten classrooms there is no discussion of facts and figures. Instead, the primary goal is to help the students learn through the processes of 'pretend learning'deduction.' To put it simply, pretend learning involves having students role play and imagining what their lives might be like without the help of their parents. The learning takes place in a controlled environment so that the student's mind does not become so active that it 'over-learns.''Deduction' is a common practice among many children but it should not be confused with reading. Just as reading h elps students to think about different topics, pretend learning makes them understand that reading is a great way to learn. Unfortunately, the process is used too infrequently in pre-service schools. For example, if there is a debate in class about which President was the greatest, the students may spend the class period talking about the facts and figures. Then they move on to more interesting topics and have never really grasped the meaning of the debate or whether it really mattered what the facts and figures were.Fortunately, some schools are beginning to realize that the problem of teachers not explaining concepts in elementary education is a huge problem that needs to be addressed. Essay topics are one way of achieving this goal.Of course, if you are teaching high school or college level courses then your essay topics are probably already well in hand. However, if you are an elementary teacher with little to no experience writing essays, you should seriously consider this tech nique as it will do wonders for your ability to connect with students. The first step to writing good essay topics for elementary education is to review all of the topics that you teach and use these as the base for the essay. There are so many different topics to choose from, and it will be very easy to forget about some of the more important ones. It is important to review the topics that you teach and organize the materials to be used.Once you have chosen your topics, review the grade levels that the topics are taught at. You may find that some of the grade levels overlap. For example, you may be using Grade 4 textbooks, which students read during Grade 4, but they are used for Grade 3.This is a good time to take a look at your grade level and get all of the material ready for that grade level. Then you can easily match the material to your grade level so that students can focus on the points that are being made. If you have not reviewed your grade level or do not teach it, you sh ould do so now.
